I am happy to reveal, things are getting better! I don't know if it was quiting my multivitamin, or getting on a better schedule, or just him growing and developing more...but things have definitely gotten better. We've finally gotten in a predictable "Baby Wise" routine now of eating, playing and sleeping. He's up longer (approx. 1 to 1.5 hrs) and smiling tons! It's so wonderful...and so fabulous to finally have a happy baby!
(Note: I will still confess, the 7pm-ish feeding is still sometimes pretty rough...but better...)
Sleeping:
I keep hoping any day now he's going to sleep right through that 3am feeding, however, I haven't quite gotten that lucky. I'm working hard on allowing him to nap in his bed (which is currently the pack n' play bassinet beside our bed) for his early morning nap and his early afternoon nap...in the hopes of him recognizing the importance of these 2 particular naps a day. Sometimes this works wonderfully. Sometimes it fails miserably. We're having the issue of waking up 1/2 way through nap time. I've read that putting him down earlier will help this, but who knows. He also is a loud grunter. He'll spend a good portion of 5am-6am grunting...and grunting...and grunting. I don't know what that is about. But, I'm hoping it passes soon.
Eating:
It's hard to tell exactly how much he's eating...since I'm nursing. Sometimes it seems as though he eats and eats and cleans out both sides. Other times he is so drowsy it's hard to get him to finish only one side. I do know he is happy to eat 4.5 oz. in his bottle at his late night feeding from the bottle that Grady feeds him.
General Disposition:
Like I said, he's finally acting like the kind of baby I seem to remember from Ross. Eat. Play. Sleep. It's treating him well thus far. Maybe it just took a little while for him to figure out that routine.
And, if you remember also- he had green poos...lots of green poos. Enough to where it concerned me. Those have completely disappeared for some reason. It could have been the mulitvitamin?? I'm not sure. But, I've welcomed his bright yellow poos with open arms. :)
I'm still very much trying to get into the groove of things. It's a whole new life over here...but one small flash of this precious smile and all the stress seems to melt away...
