How's First Grade?

. . . something I've been asked quite frequently lately, so I thought I'd enlighten you.

So far, so good! It is certainly a difference the first day of school (even when the power is out)! I'm used to 5 year olds not even knowing how to form a line . . . where an explanation is needed for every action they do.
First graders, however, are already pro's!

We have tighter quarters, though- so this makes their chatting more noticeable to me . . . either that or this year they have much more to say to one another . . . so that has been an adjustment.

But, quite honestly, I'm most impressed! So far, the first days of school have certainly been tiring . . . but a breeze compared to last year!

Let's hope this continues!

(First Grade) Quote of the Day

Student: "Mrs. Marsh! Guess what?!?!"

Mrs. Marsh: "What?"

Student: "I have my own Facebook!"

Mrs. Marsh: "Oh, really!?!?"

Student: (with hand to chin, thinking intently) "Yes. In fact, I may need to get on it and check a few things."

Mrs. Marsh: (giggling) "I'm sorry. Unfortunately, we can't do that here . . ."

Well . . . at least he's practicing his reading and writing!

Welcome to First Grade!

I can't believe school is already here again! Summer's come and gone faster than I expected! Though, I am excited to be with all my kids again!

I'll admit, it was quite the process packing up my old room and unpacking in the new one . . . but I, of course have some "before" and "after" pictures for you!

Before

After

Wish me luck tomorrow!
There's no doubt it will be twice as tiring as simply moving in . . .

A Day on the Lake!

Dave and Kristy were nice enough to allow us use of their family's boat this weekend! (Kristy, we missed you!) What a fun day!!

The Annual Ross Family Pool Party

I can't believe it's already been another year!
It's so great meeting up with all the fam!

(Alex took a bad fall on a slippery bathroom floor and ended up with 3 stitches . . . 3 stitches that he later became quite proud of, I do believe!)

Classroom Curtains

As you already know, I have recently had to switch classrooms as part of the big FIRST GRADE transition! In my new room I have one giant window . . . which clearly needed attention.

I absolutely, positively love IKEA. It is certainly one of my favorite stores. They have a grand selection of fabric that I adore. Thank goodness Kristy reminded me of their budget friendly fabric and how quickly it could be turned into curtains!

I purchased several yards of this print.

. . . cut out 2 large panels . . .

. . . ironed the edges for easy sewing . . .

. . . and in no time had my curtains!

If at all you can visualize . . . these are my two panels for my very large classroom window.

Hopefully next week I'll have pictures of them in place!
