. . . something I've been asked quite frequently lately, so I thought I'd enlighten you.
So far, so good! It is certainly a difference the first day of school (even when the power is out)! I'm used to 5 year olds not even knowing how to form a line . . . where an explanation is needed for every action they do.
First graders, however, are already pro's!
We have tighter quarters, though- so this makes their chatting more noticeable to me . . . either that or this year they have much more to say to one another . . . so that has been an adjustment.
But, quite honestly, I'm most impressed! So far, the first days of school have certainly been tiring . . . but a breeze compared to last year!
Let's hope this continues!

i'm glad the year's going well so far... hope that continues for you! going back to kindergarten next year is going to be tough.
The kids are probably extra excited because they already know their teacher and friends in the class. You don't have that beginning time when they are getting to know you and everyone. I would imagine they do have a lot more to talk about and they are more comfortable with you. They are lucky lucky kids to have you for two years! I think they have won the lottery of teachers to have such a creative fun teacher! How special that you will have such a positive infulence on their young lives for two years!
I was thinking the other day that maybe I should teach 1st grade. At least they would have been in school before and know the procedures, routines for the most part! This is wearing me out! Of course I also have 26 of them, so that could be the problem!! :)
